The Tree Project: From Forest to Furniture to the Whatcom Museum
Whatcom Museum, Rotunda Room
121 Prospect Street
Bellingham, Washington 98225
Admission is Free
Wesley Smith and Andrew Vallee present a slide program and discuss developing The Tree Project. For these emarging artists, The Tree Project was a personal odyssey of motivation and discovery. They worked out a plan to harvest a tree and build a collection of furniture and sculpture from the single tree. They completed the process of finding a suitable tree, harvesting it, milling it into lumber, designing, and building the furniture, while at the same time documenting their activities for the exhibition at the Whatcom Museum ARCO Exhibits Building. They will talk about what the project has meant to them during the last three years they have been working on it.
