  TREE SCULPTURE

The Tree Sculpture was created by cutting a two inch thick slab from the entire length of the tree. The boards contain the irregular edge of the tree on both sides to form a continuous cross section from the base to the top. The material has been crafted into an arrangement of ten benches that line up end to end to reform the trunk. The limbs and branches will then be suspended from above to recreate the canopy. We want to make it look as though it stood as a tree and fell into furniture. The viewer will be able to walk around the tree, experiencing what it once was and what it has become.
